NEW YEAR'S EVE IN MUNICH - LAST MINUTE
Hooray, the last day of the year is just around the corner, and a new year is beginning… maybe you fancy celebrating the turn of the year in Munich this year? We have put together a few ideas for you:
For those in the mood to celebrate, the diverse Tollwood Winter Festival is a great place to visit: menu, artistry, live bands, and DJs await you at the big New Year’s Eve gala. Many other Munich clubs, bars, theatres, and lounges offer New Year’s Eve packages.
Do you prefer to celebrate open air? The night sky and the colorful fireworks can be admired at the foot of the Bavaria statue, from the Olympiaberg and from the Friedensengel. You can also enjoy the best view from the bridges over the Isar river. From the Reichenbach Bridge, for instance, it’s not a far walk to the popular Gärtnerplatz and Glockenbach quarters with their many bars. The Nymphenburg Palace Canal with the Nymphenburg Palace in the background and the Hofgarten near Odeonsplatz also offer a great ambiance.
If you want to end or start the year on a sporty note, the Munich New Year’s Eve Run or New Year’s Day Run is the place to be. Happy New Year!

Opera, operetta, musical and dance – experience musical theatre in all its diversity at Munich’s Gärtnerplatztheater! In the winter program you can expect, a. o., the premiere of the highly entertaining chamber musical Rockin’ Rosie.
Our insider tip for all costume lovers and dress-up artists: the theatre’s popular annual costume sale will take place again on 14 January. It’s a great opportunity to discover handmade, fantastical dresses, historical robes, uniforms and headpieces from previous productions and purchase a unique outfit for your next costume party.
