A bike tour through Munich (with rental bikes from the hotel)
Explore Munich on two wheels! Bikes can now be rented directly from our hotel – let’s go for a ride through the city, into the English Garden or to the Isar. Why not make a spontaneous detour to the beer garden – with our in-house rental bikes you are flexible and can experience sightseeing in a different way. Enjoy freedom on two wheels.
Because cycling is really fun in Munich: here you can just go for a drive, drift under a bright blue sky and get to know the summer city life in a relaxing way. Many things are close to each other – therefor can be reached by bike in just a few minutes. After a tour through the English Garden, for example, you can enjoy Steckerlfisch, chicken and a cool Radlermaß in the beer garden at the Chinese Tower. Or you can cycle along the Isar, starting at Marienplatz via the Isartor and the Ludwigsbrücke bridge up the Isar cycle path southwards to the Menterschwaige estate with its beer garden. Tollwood Summerfestival 2023 | 16 June - 16 July
Summer experience in the Olympic Park: The Tollwood Festival 2023 offers a lively and multi-faceted program again this year. For four summer weeks, from 16 June to 16 July, the multicultural festival invites music fans, culture enthusiasts and strollers to concerts, art, acrobatics, theatre, arts and crafts and organic gastronomy. Under the theme “Water – pure life”, This year’s festival is dedicated to this vital resource and brings its facets to be experienced with art installations. Against the backdrop of the colourful “Marketplace of Ideas”, you can experience fascinating performances from all over the world, concerts by stars, newcomers, music legends, as well as theatre and live music from around the world.
The entry to most of the activities and events is free. The best way to get to the festival grounds is by public transport. Tickets for concerts and special performances can be purchased via the Tollwood website.
Brunnenhof Open Air 2023 | 23 June - 3 August
On Munich’s most exclusive open-air stage, you can experience highlights such as the Abba Summer Night, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Four Seasons, an Italian Summer Night and much more under the canopy of stars. – There is something for every taste! Every year during the summer season, Munich’s city centre presents itself from its most beautiful side at the diverse open-air concerts in the heart of the Residenz. Swing, rock, pop, opera, jazz, folk and classical music resound in the hidden courtyard between the old walls: no matter which concert you choose, you will always enjoy a very special musical experience here.
Beautiful lakes around Munich
Getting out of the hot city? You can find the perfect place to cool off in the Munich countryside. With almost 80 lakes in and around Munich, the Bavarian capital is ideally equipped for swimming excursions. Many beautiful places can be discovered by train: dreamlike and refreshing lakes, very close to Munich and definitely worth a trip include Lake Starnberg, Lake Ammer, Lake Wörth, Lake Feringa, the Easter Lakes and Lake Kochel.
Steamers depart from the Ammersee several times a day for lake cruises. On top of that, there are also beer gardens right by the water. In the paradise at Lake Starnberg near Possenhofen, you are sure to find the perfect sunbathing spot. Would you like to combine a walk and a swim? There is a two kilometre long path around the Feringasee, the largest bathing lake near Munich – however, if you come by public transport, it will take you another 30 minutes to reach the lake. In addition to the Easter lakes, also the Wörthsee west of Munich can be reached easily by train or S-Bahn – with an average water temperature of 22 degrees it is one of the warmest lakes in Bavaria. Framed by an impressive mountain backdrop, the Kochelsee about 70 km from Munich is a special highlight – here you can go for an excellent hike and then refresh yourself in the clear water before heading back to the Bavarian metropolis.
